Tamraght · Taghazout Bay · Morocco

A typical day at the surf camp

A week at Morocco Surf Club in Tamraght, Taghazout Bay runs on a rhythm rather than a timetable: breakfast around 08:00, a conditions check, one coached two-hour session at whichever break the morning chose, an open afternoon, and dinner at 20:00. The times below are the honest shape of a normal day. The tide moves them, sometimes by hours, and that is the one part of the schedule nobody controls.

How the day actually runs

  1. 08:00

    Breakfast at the house

Everyone eats together before anyone thinks about the water. This is also when the day gets confirmed out loud, so you leave the table knowing where you are going.

  2. 09:00

    The coach checks conditions

Swell, period, direction, wind, tide window and crowd across the bay’s options, weighed against the level of the group that week. The answer is not the same two days running.

  3. 09:30

Boards on the roof, and out

Anza, Tamraght, Taghazout, Banana Point, La Source or Panoramas — whichever one the morning check chose. Most drives from Tamraght are short; the day it is worth going further, we go further.

  4. 10:00

    Warm-up and the beach brief

Where the peak is, where the current runs, where to sit, and the one specific thing you are working on today. Then two hours of coached surfing with corrections between sets.

  5. 12:30

Out of the water, and lunch

Two focused hours is roughly where technique starts degrading rather than improving. Lunch is usually eaten out and is not inside the week price.

  6. 13:00

    Free surf, or not

Some guests paddle back out to repeat the morning correction without anyone watching. Others are finished, and sit on the sand. Both are the right answer depending on the day and your arms.

  7. 16:00

    Back to the house

Salt off, wetsuits hung, boards away. The drive back is when most of the day’s waves get re-surfed verbally, at considerable length.

  8. 17:00

    Tea and the terrace

Mint tea, time on the terrace, and a look back at the morning’s waves when footage is available.

  9. 20:00

    Dinner

Four nights a week that is a traditional Moroccan dinner at the house, eaten together. The other three, people walk into the village and find their own.

The caveat that matters

The tide outranks the timetable

Reefs and points work on specific tides. When the useful window falls at 07:00, breakfast moves earlier and so does everything after it; when it falls at 15:00, the morning is yours and the session is in the afternoon. A camp that runs 10:00 every day regardless is running a schedule, not a surf trip.

You are told the next day's shape the evening before, so the change is never a surprise you find out about at breakfast.

The open hours

What people do with the afternoons

Paddle back out

The most useful thing you can do with the correction you got that morning is repeat it unsupervised. Board availability depends on what is not already out with the group.

Leave the bay for the day

Most guests use one afternoon on something other than surfing — the coast, Agadir, or a market. There are options in things to do in Taghazout.

Nothing at all

Surfing two hours a day for seven days is more tiring than it sounds, particularly in the first three. The terrace is a legitimate plan and the most common one by Wednesday.

Daily rhythm

A typical day — your questions answered

Start times, water hours, and what the rest of the day looks like.

What time does the surf day start?

Breakfast is around 08:00 and the coach checks the morning conditions before the group leaves, usually around 09:00–09:30. The exact departure moves with the tide — a mid-tide window at 07:00 or 15:00 changes the day, and the schedule follows the ocean rather than the clock.

How many hours a day will I actually be in the water?

A two-hour coached session daily is what the Surf & Stay week includes, with free-surf time around it when conditions and board availability allow. Most guests find two focused hours plus a free paddle is the honest limit before fatigue starts undoing the technique the coach just corrected.

Is there time to do anything other than surf?

Yes. Afternoons after the session and the three evenings without a house dinner are open, and the bay is small enough to reach beaches, cafés, and the Agadir side easily. Guests commonly use one afternoon for a day trip and the rest for the terrace.

Do you surf twice a day?

The Surf & Stay week is built around one coached session a day plus optional free surfing. Surf Guiding, the separate €430 product, is the two-sessions-a-day format: it swaps lesson structure for a guide taking you to the best spot morning and afternoon.
