Taghazout Bay · two hours in the water · groups of five

Surf lessons where the coach has time to watch your waves.

Spend two coached hours in the water with no more than 5 surfers in the group. Your board and wetsuit are included, and we choose the beach after checking the tide, waves, crowd, and your level. You can see the coach’s qualifications before you pay.

Start from where you are

Tell us which of these sounds most like you.

You do not need to know surf terminology. A few honest details about your experience are enough for us to place you in the right session.

“I have never tried.”

We start with carrying the board, staying safe, lying in the right place, and standing up without rushing.

“I can stand, but not often.”

We work on catching more waves, making the take-off calmer, and finding a board that helps rather than fights you.

“I catch green waves.”

We focus on choosing waves, taking off in a useful position, looking down the line, and making cleaner turns.

Lesson price & format

Two hours in the water, board and wetsuit included

Duration

A two-hour coached session in the water, with a beach briefing before and feedback after. Start time follows the tide, not a clock.

Group size

Max 5 surfers per coach — small enough that every pop-up and paddle position gets seen and debriefed.

Gear

Board and wetsuit included and sized to you — beginners start on stable foam boards and only move up when your pop-up and timing are ready.

We sell coaching by the week, not by the single lesson: inside the seven-night Surf & Stay week, a two-hour coached day works out at from ~€51 per day (from €360 ÷ 7 nights), including board, wetsuit, and transport to the best spot of the day. Standalone day lessons are only arranged for guests already in the Taghazout area and are quoted honestly in writing from your dates and level — we do not publish a fixed day rate.

What a lesson actually includes

A briefing, two hours in the water, and feedback you can use tomorrow

Every surf lesson with Morocco Surf Club is built around the same idea: small enough groups that the coach watches each pop-up, picks the spot around the tide, and tells you the one thing to change next session.

Before you paddle out

A beach brief on the day's conditions, where the safe learning area is, and the single skill we are working on — so you enter the water with a plan, not just hope.

In the water

Two hours of coached surfing with feedback between sets. Beginners start on stable foam boards in white water; improvers work on choosing left or right and catching unbroken waves at the right moment.

After the session

A quick debrief and, on select days, video so you can see what your pop-up and stance are really doing — the part most cheap lessons skip entirely.

Who coaches you

Jamal · Lead surf coach

You book knowing who is in the water with you. Jamal leads most lessons and checks the bay before choosing the day’s beach. We share his qualification records with you before payment.

Jamal has been a surf instructor in Taghazout Bay since 2014. Calm, multilingual, and highly experienced at matching surf guidance to the level and confidence of each guest in the group.

Coaching from Tamraght since 2014.

Coach record available

Before payment, you can ask to review the named coach’s available training and safety records. Your written quote also confirms who is coaching, the five-surfer group cap, your dates and the total in euros.

Where lessons happen

Beginner-friendly breaks, chosen around the tide

Beginner lessons favour sandy training areas in Taghazout Bay when the day's water depth, current, waves at the shoreline, crowd, and tide suit the group. Sand reduces one category of reef exposure but does not make surfing risk-free.

Advanced point breaks such as Anchor Point are outside a beginner lesson plan when the power, entry, exit, or crowd exceeds the group's ability. The beach follows the day's conditions, not a fixed timetable.

Safety and travel cover

A named local coach, a beach check, and a clear plan

We take ocean safety seriously so you can focus on learning. The beach, board, group, and session length are chosen around the people and waves we have that day.

Know who is coaching you

We name the coach before you book. You can ask to see the available training and safety records before payment; a public outside verification link is not available yet.

Before anyone enters the water

We watch several sets, point out the safe area, currents, rocks, and the way back to shore, then change beach or plan when the conditions do not suit the group.

If something goes wrong

A first-aid kit travels with the group. The team knows how to contact local help and reach medical care in Agadir.

Bring travel insurance that covers surfing

Every guest needs personal travel insurance that includes surfing. We check the policy details when you arrive so you know what medical and activity cover you have.

Lessons, a beginner week, or a full camp

How daily lessons fit into a week

Our coaching is built around full weeks because progress compounds day over day — but here is how the pieces relate so you can pick what fits your trip.

Daily lessons in a week

On the Surf & Stay week you get one two-hour coached lesson every day — from ~€51 per day (from From €360 / person · 7 nights), plus board, wetsuit, transport, and accommodation.

Surf lesson questions

Surf lessons in Taghazout — common questions

Tap a question — same wording we confirm by email before you book.

How long is each surf lesson in Taghazout?

Each coached session runs roughly two hours in the water, plus a beach briefing before and feedback after. On Surf & Stay weeks you get one daily lesson; Surf Guiding runs two guided sessions a day. The exact timing follows the tide, so a lesson may start early or late depending on the morning forecast.

How many people are in a surf lesson?

Groups are capped at 5 surfers per coach. That cap is the whole point — it is what lets Jamal watch every pop-up and give feedback between sets instead of shouting generic tips from the beach.

Are board and wetsuit included in the lessons?

Yes. Boards and wetsuits sized to your height, weight, and stage are included in every coached week. Beginners start on stable, high-volume foam boards; we move you to smaller boards only when your pop-up and timing are ready.

Do I need to be able to swim?

You should be comfortable swimming in open water and willing to follow surf-safety instructions. You do not need to be a strong swimmer for beginner sand-bottom breaks, but you must not be afraid of being in the sea.

How much does a surf lesson in Taghazout cost?

Our coaching is sold as weeks, not by the single lesson. Inside the seven-night Surf & Stay week, a two-hour coached lesson with board, wetsuit and transport works out at from ~€51 per day (from €360 / 7 nights). Standalone day lessons are only arranged for guests already in the area and are quoted honestly in writing from your dates and level — there is no fixed published day rate.

Can I book a single day of surf lessons instead of a week?

Our coaching is built around full weeks because progress compounds day over day, so we publish week pricing rather than a day rate. For guests already in the Taghazout area we can sometimes arrange standalone day lessons — message us with your dates and level and we will tell you honestly what is possible and quote it in writing.

Who teaches the surf lessons?

Most weeks are led by Jamal, the named lead coach, rather than an anonymous rotating roster. Ask to inspect the available training and safety records before payment. No public third-party credential URL is currently available, so the website does not present those records as independently verified.
