The village base

Who is a Tamraght surf camp best for?

Tamraght works well for a first surf week or a return to the water when you want a quieter place to sleep and a short drive to several sand-bottom options. Your address is Kymata in Tamraght, not Taghazout village; the coaching area extends across the bay.

In the morning, Jamal checks wind, tide, swell and the group’s demonstrated level before choosing a break. Tamraght Beach, Panoramas and Banana Point can be useful when conditions fit, but the group can travel to Anza or another suitable spot. A famous break is never part of the promise.

Visitors looking for evening cafés on foot in Taghazout village should plan for transport. If the shortest Agadir airport drive matters more, see the Anza base. Our three-place guide explains the tradeoffs in more detail.

Stay at Kymata

See the Tamraght house before you choose a room.

Kymata is the Tamraght accommodation base for this camp. These are first-party photos of the house; a written quote identifies the room available for your dates. The €489 entry price applies to one shared-room place, not necessarily to a pictured private room.

The coaching rhythm

What does a week at Kymata actually look like?

The seven-night stay includes a coached surf session on each of six surf days. The beach and timing move with conditions; the sequence below shows how we plan the week, not a fixed timetable or a guaranteed wave.

  1. 01 / Arrive

Settle in and set a goal

Confirm the room, fit the board and wetsuit, and tell Jamal what you have surfed before.

  2. 02 / Brief

    Choose today’s water

The coach checks the group’s level, tide, wind and swell before naming the beach and the learning objective.

  3. 03 / Surf

    Two focused hours

Warm up, review the safe zone and practise with between-set corrections in a capped group.

  4. 04 / Reset

    Build on the last session

Use feedback to choose the next drill; rest or change plans when conditions or fatigue require it.

For ocean-safety basics before travelling, see the RNLI surfing guidance. Local conditions are assessed on the day by the coach.

A named coach

Know who is guiding the group.

Jamal is the named lead coach for Morocco Surf Club’s small-group weeks. He has instructed around Taghazout Bay since 2014 and works in English, French, Arabic and Spanish. Ask to review available training and safety records before payment.

Tamraght or Anza: which small-group camp fits?

Both houses use the same five-surfer coaching cap and daily condition-led spot choice. The practical difference is where you sleep, the entry price and the feel of your evenings.

01

Ask for the water ratio

“Small group” should mean a published maximum per coach during the lesson, not only a small house.

02

Confirm the address

Some Taghazout Bay listings use the wider destination name. Ask for the actual accommodation house and village.

03

Compare the full total

Match the same dates and room occupancy, then add excluded meals, airport transfer and insurance.

Quick answers

Tamraght surf camp questions

Straight answers about the house, coaching, price and arrival.

How small are the Tamraght surf groups?

Morocco Surf Club caps each coached group at 5 surfers per coach. The cap describes the coaching ratio, not the total number of people staying at Kymata. Your quote confirms the coach, dates and room before you pay.

What is the price of a seven-night surf camp in Tamraght?

The Kymata shared-room entry price is €489 per person for seven nights, checked 2026-10-01. Private rooms and peak weeks can change the total. We confirm the exact room and price in a written quote before a deposit.

What is included in the Tamraght Surf & Stay week?

Seven nights at Kymata, a two-hour coached session on each of six surf days, board and wetsuit, transport to the selected break, daily breakfast and four traditional dinners are included. Lunches, three dinners, flights, travel insurance and airport transfer are outside the entry price.

Is Kymata in Taghazout village?

No. Kymata is in Tamraght, south of Taghazout village. The coach may take the group to breaks near Taghazout, Tamraght, Anza or elsewhere in the bay when conditions fit; your room remains at the Tamraght house.

Is Tamraght suitable for a first-time surfer?

It can be. The southern bay has sand-bottom options, and the coach selects a manageable break after checking conditions and the group. A specific beach or wave is never guaranteed; beginners start with an ocean-safety brief and a board matched to their level.

Can I join the camp as a solo traveller?

Yes. A solo guest can request a shared-room place or ask for a private-room quote. The coaching cap stays at five surfers per coach. Send your dates and room preference so we can confirm actual availability at Kymata.

Is Agadir airport transfer included?

No. The published Surf & Stay entry price excludes Agadir Al Massira airport transfer. We can arrange a pickup as a separately quoted add-on; its cost and arrival plan appear in the written quote before payment.
